03/25/04:

Sorry that it's been a couple of days since we last sent word and pictures. It's been tough to get to a computer!
On Monday night, we ate at the Venetian Hotel and saw some of the sights on the Strip--the Grand Canal in the Venetian, the volcano and rain forest at the Mirage, the fountains at the Belagio. I think we walked off our big dinner!
On Tuesday, we made over 500 pieces of chocolate candy that we'll use this week to do a Vegas version of the GCBC bread basket. This supply will last them for quite a while! That night, we had dinner at one of the SonValley members' homes--it was good to encourage them and provide some TLC to Tommy and Jackie.
Yesterday, went to Red Rock Canyon, met & ate with SonValley members, and then went to support and encourage a sister church during Wed PM service.
Today has been a lot of leg-work: we've blitzed several area businesses to give out fliers of the upcoming Festival that SonValley is doing in April. This afternoon, we canvass the neighborhoods with brochures of a new Bible study.
Tomorrow, we expect to help a church start that SonValley is helping start in North Las Vegas.
Home on Saturday--see everybody then!
Steve

03/22/04:

Hello all. I've attached a few pictures from our trip thus far. We had a good (though long) flight in. Everybody was up until 2am EST on Sunday morning, getting into our hotel, a bite to eat, etc. We went to KFC and were told that they were out of chicken--go figure! Last night Dale & Vanessa went to Mickey D's for a cup of "non-Starbuck's"--they were out of coffee. Maybe the food & beverage deliveries will come to Vegas today!
In spite of the above mentioned food shortages, we've eaten non-stop since we woke up yesterday. Good-bye respective low carb and low-fat diets!
On Sunday, we helped serve food and distribute clothing at a downtown mission. Some 75 homeless came to a worship service and meal.
Today, we're helping the Watsons and SonValley church pack up for their upcoming move to a new house and new church offices. Tonight, we'll see a little bit of the Las Vegas you all are imagining (the Venetian, Caesar's, Bellagio, etc).
Will send more updates later.
Steve
