Join us for KidStufTM on the
1st, 2nd and 4th Sundays of
the month during the 9:00 AM worship service (During the school
year). You never
know who will show up! Here are a few of our KidStufTM characters. |
 |
Beth Whitman and Steve Turner are the co-hosts of KidStuf.
Beth is the sane one. Steve is the, well, enthusiastic one,
always ready with a screwball plan that will illustrate the
monthly virtue. Fortunately, Beth is on hand to maintain some
sort of order and decorum. Together, they form the perfect
team for explaining the monthly virtue and how kids and their
parents can make those virtues are part of their daily lives.

 |
Gordy - He’s aced
the SAT, but struggles with basic social situations. The
neighborhood’s resident techno-scientist guy, Gordy can
surprisingly think with both his brain and his heart. He has a
patent pending on the 1AB Machine. Played by John Brothers. |
 |
The "Good Book
Nook" Lady - Local shop owner with a store on Main Street. She
often gets involved by providing a Biblical perspective to the
myriad of situations that our kooky cast find themselves.
Played by Cindy Loman |
 |
Officer Dan - The
resident keeper of the peace. Officer Dan catches the occasional
shoplifter and handles crowd control when necessary. He often
redirects the chaos of the cast to the principles in God’s Word.
Played by Dan Loman |
 |
Mrs. Crabtree - –
A widow, she lives in the apartment on Main Street with her
grandchildren. A long life has given her many experiences from
which she draws to help the kids of the neighborhood. Those same
experiences have made her quite cantankerous, though a softy at
heart. Played by Cindy Loman |
 |
Henry is Gordy's
grandfather (Mrs. Finkenhoeffer's father). He's retired, but
he's way more active than most people his age. He stays involved
in community service projects and is an all-around whiz
handyman. He and Gordy share an underappreciated sense of humor.
|
 |
Cornbread - She
recently moved to the neighborhood from the mountains of eastern
Tennessee. Her insight is pure hillbilly; she’s a real
“fish-out-of-water” in the big city!
Played by Stacie Wilson
|
 |
Bruiser - A new
Christian, Bruiser is just starting to understand what it means to
follow Christ. His dad runs an auto repair shop where Bruiser
learns enough to be dangerous. Not the brightest, he often gets in
trouble by letting his muscle overpower his brain.
Played by Dan Loman |
|
 |
Gus Grizwold –
Gus is the patriarch of the neighborhood. He owns and runs the
movie theater next to Mrs. Crabtree’s apartment. “Back in my day .
. .” is a favorite phrase of Gus’ as he offers his grandfatherly
wisdom.
Played by Scott Jones
|
 |
Tyler – One
high-energy, nutty, over-the-edge guy! Tyler tends to speak, act,
and spaz-out before engaging his God-given intellect. He, with
Gordy, is a founding member of the Young Inventor’s Club. He and
his dad recently moved to the neighborhood from Texas.
Played by Roger Whitman
|
 |
Cammie – She exudes
popularity (at least in her own mind!). Cammie is the captain of
her cheerleading squad and dreams of becoming homecoming queen.
She is consumed with her nails, others fashion faux pas’, and
anything having to do with herself. Cammie has a one-member fan
club and finds it hard to be interested in other people’s
problems.
Played by Melissa Brothers
|
 |
Kit (Not Kitty)
Wagner is a daughter of a self-improvement guru. She is in
permanent "take-charge" mode who always has a better way of doing
things, although she will (grudgingly) readjust her thinking if
she must. Part drill sergeant, part kid, she sometimes struggles
through the virtues.
Played by Kelly Shiver |
 |
Todd sees the world
a little differently than most people. He often mixes up Bible
stories with movies or books. He loves his guitar, Bessie, and he
always wears a tie-dyed shirt. His "surfer-dude lingo" sets him
apart. His simplicity often leads him to wisdom, although he never
arrives there logically.
Played by Anthony McKinney |
 |
Jacqueline (Jackie)
Hazard makes Lara Croft look like a sissy. She's the girl on the
block who is not only interested in cars, motorcycles and extreme
sports, she also knows more about them than most of the boys. Her
energy and enthusiasm can lead her where angels fear to tread, but
she always (well, almost) comes out okay. Played by Lane Jones |
 |
Veronica Cash – Mrs.
Thurston Howell, III is Veronica’s idol. Much of the town’s wealth
(and history) shows up along with Veronica’s limo. So far, she’s
not totally convinced of the need for Christ in her life. Money
does just fine, as long as it’s in her account at the bank across
from Cash Park and Memorial Gardens, Dahling!
Played by Susan Hensley |
 |
Bart the
Bard is the closest to being the "bad guy." He's the neighborhood
bully. He's big and he's strong, but he has a wonderfully ironic
twist: he writes poetry that doesn't rhyme. He wears Army
fatigues, a poet's shirt and carries a feather quill. While he
hasn't adopted most of the virtues into his own life, he is
interested in the idea of God being bigger and stronger than
anything else in the world.
Played by Josh
Espinosa |
 |
Agnes Whipsnade - Agnes published "Hooked on
Physics" at age 8. She is interested in science, and loves to
study. Her awkward social skills sometimes cover up her wisdom and
understanding. Gordy and Agnes have a not so friendly competition
for the science fair and school projects.
Played by Beth McKinney |
 |
Mrs. Finkenhoeffer - Gordy's mom, Mrs. F is the
"cool" mom who has been adopted as the neighborhood mother. Mrs.
F. is incredibly imaginative and provides a parents' perspective,
but she does it with a sense of humor and style. If there is a
problem to be solved, Mrs. F will find a way.
Played by Daphne Byrd |
 |
Shekky - an occasional
visitor that helps teach the key phrase during the Good Book Look.
He’s the world’s first stand-up comic, with a slant on ancient
Bible life. His jokes are so corny, “How corny are they?” . . . .
Played by Scott Jones
