MISSIONS & MOBILIZATION
As growing, maturing disciples of Christ, it is expected that members of the Gate City family will serve in ministry within the walls of our church and on mission in our community and around the world. A variety of opportunities exist to mobilize members into service on ministry teams, committees, and other leadership arenas. Members are matched to avenues of service that complement their spiritual gifts, passions, and skills.

Opportunities to do missions with local ministries such as Urban Ministry, Habitat for Humanity, and the PBA Ministry Center abound. Short-term mission trips, stateside and international, are planned throughout the year. Gate City currently maintains partnerships with Southern Baptist missionaries, as well as those working specifically in Honduras, Ivory Coast, Trinidad, Las Vegas, and New Orleans. A weekend global missions emphasis occurs each spring (2005 World Missions Weekend: April 8-10).

MISSION TRIPS. WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

We minister in various ways when we are out on the field. Some examples of what to expect are:

  • Backyard Bible Clubs

  • Neighborhood Canvassing

  • Prayer walking

  • Sport Clinics

  • Vacation Bible School assistance

  • Park ministries

  • Scripture and tract distribution

  • Overall assistance to the Missionaries, whether it be carpentry, cleaning, or organizing materials.

The cost of the Mission Trips vary by location and include your airfare, accommodations, and most meals. A time for sightseeing is usually worked into the length of the trip.
